Miss Stenhouse has been appointed temporary assistant at the Balclutha District High School, vice Mr Irwin transferred.

Messrs M. Eyrie and. Co.' new building is rapidly approaching completion, and presents a commanding appearance.

At the Police Court, Kaitangata, William Thomson, charged with using obsene language in a public place, was. convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Messrs Poole and Farquhar were the presiding justices.

The hearing of the charge against Thomas Galloway of having murdered his wife at South Dunedin, on January Ist, was concluded on Saturday, when the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and accused was discharged.

We noticed that in the first draft of stations arranged at the Wesleyan conferance at Auckland, the Bev. Mr Elliott, is appointed to go to Wellington (Thornton), the Bev T. N. Newbold to take his place in Balelutha. Of course this is not final.

A fatal accident occurred at the Calliope dock, Auckland, on Saturday morning. A large number of men were engaged painting the Union Company's Manapouri when one of the stages broke, owing to a defective rope. Three men fell on to the concrete side of the dock, a fall of 26ft. All three were injured, one so seriously that he died on Sunday morning. A fourth man cleverly grabbed an overhanging boatbook on the Manapouri, and after swinging in the air by it, was pulled up by one of the crew.
