CLINTON.

[Froji Our Own Cobkespondent.] The annual school concert which was postponed at the break up last year was held on Friday evening, when the attendance was disappointing. No doubt the patriotic movement interfered with the success of the concert, and the committee would have been wise to have held it a few weeks later. A splendid programme of 24 items was presented, including many amusing dialogues, recitations, and action songs by the children. Besides the numbers rendered by the children, the following was the programme :— Piano solos, Misses Douglas, M. Remer, E. Simmons, and Mr J. Bagley ; Violin solos, Misses Alice Cockroft, M. IJjomson, Ruth Rhode's (p"up,Us

of Miss M'Neil) ; Songs by Miss Murray, Messrs Stewart, Caldow, and Wa's'a ; Recitation, Mr Cuff. Mr Caldow with " Ora Pro Nobis," and Mr Walsh with " Look Back," were vigorously encored. Too much praise cannoff v sfe Riven to the teaching staff, Mr Stewart and Miss Patereon, for the excellent training of the children. It was cvilent they had exercised great patience and skill in this work. At the close of the entertainment, Mr A. M'Donald, who occupied thechafr, presented good attendance certificates to the following : — Maggie M'Laehlan, Vida Cockroft, Dorothy and Leslie Stewart, Amy Clifford, ard Eric Cockroft. The Chairman said thct M. M'Lachlan, had attended the whole of her school course, without being absent a day, and the committee considering this unique, decided to make her a present of a beautiful album which he handed to her amidst the applause of the audience. Mr Simmons proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the performers, and congratulated those who had arranged the programme.
