PORT MOLYNEUX CONGREGATION.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Port Molyneux congregation was held on Tuesday evening, the 30th inst., the llev. A. M. Dalyrmple M.A. in the chair. After a few remarks, the chairman called upon Mr Steven, who read the report of the Kirk Session, in which feeling reference was made to the deaths of three old members of the church — Mrs Moran, MiHenry Henderson and Mr Henry Tilson.

The treasurer, Mr James Shiels senr., read the iinancial statement, which showed a substantial 'balance in hand. These reports were adopted.

Mr Adam Paterson was re-elected a member of committee, and Mr Eobert Shiels was chosen to fill the place of Mr Adam Wilson, who is leaving the district.

The routine business being finished, a sumptuous tea, infused by Mr John Potiki and plentifully provided by the ladies of the congregation, was then done full justice to. The Eev. J. M. Allan, called by the late Dr Stuart "the prince of all soiree speakers," addressed the meeting in his usual felicitious style on " Growth." —Rev. Mr Macalistar described a number of characteristic growths that he had seen in Australia, "Cornstalks," " Gumsuckers," and " Sa.ndgrope.rs." — The Rev. E. Fairmaid, always a great favourite with the young folks, gave a rousing address in his own forcible manner on " the growth and formation of character."

Solos were very sweetly given by Pvliss Cramond "The Holy City'," Miss Wood of Eiversdale " Eock of Ages," Messrs John lleid aud Marcus Jack man, Miss Elsie Watt and Messrs John, Thomas and Leith Watt sang very nicely " Oh how lovely is Zion," and the choir under the able leadership of Mr John Held, rendered several anthems in a pleasingstylo. Miss Cramond presided at the organ in her own happy manner. On the motion of Mr Wm. Hay, votes of thanks were passed to the speakers, the ladies and the choir coupled with the name, of Mr Eeid, after which the minister pronounced the benediction and the crowded meeting dispersed.
