Thomas Sinclair (18) was arraigned on an indictment charging him with, on the 30th April, having broken and entered the shop of Thomas Brown at Balclufcha and stolen goods therefrom. In a second count the ac-i cased was charged with having received certain of the goods. — Accused pleaded guilty to the second count, which was accepted by the Crown prosecutor and accused was admitted to probation for 12 months. James Leonard Booney was arraigned, on an indictment charging him with haying, on the 26th May, at Alexandra, obtained the sum of L5 by false pretences from William Joseph Eyan.— Accused pleaded not guilty and the brown, prosecutor, pointed out that the cheque given by the accused was. post dated and did not come within tne criminal code. He therefore offered no evidence and accused was discharged. '• . ; Patrick Lawrence M'Clusky was charged with having, on the 3rd June,' broked into the premises of Ann Webb, at Middlemarch, and stolen therefrom the sum of LlO 10s in money, orders for the payment of - Ll9 3s, two gold rings, one pair of earrings, one pair of sleeve links, one greenstone pendant, one cash box, and one bag.— Accused pleaded not guilty , ; but after evidence, was convicted. His Honor passed, sentence of 12 months' imprisonment: with hard labour,
Michael Mullaney was charged witii ''haying on the sth June at Merton, assaulted Thomas Gwynne -Yates, so as to .cause him . grievous bodily. ■ harm. Accused., pleaded not, guilty, bat, after evidence, was convicted. Sentence — four months' imprisonment with" hard' labour. - : ■.*. ■.• -■ ' . ; John Bell (43) .was indicted on a charge of' having, on the 27th June 1892, stolen a watch and chain, "the. property of. Paul Pistov,. frointhe Talu'ne at ' Wellington. — Accused was further indicted on a charge of having, on the 11th July 1893, stolen a. watch, a hair guard, and a Sweedish coin, the property of Charles Gustaf Moberg, from' the 'steamer Mana'pouri at Auckland.
