MAGISTRATE'S COURT, CLINTON.
Tuesday, October 16. (Before R. S. Hawkins, Esq., S. M.) J. Bushet.l v. I\ M'Eorik. — Claim L 7 9s lid wages and work done. Mr D. Stewart appeared for plaintiff, and Mr J. S. Neave for defendant. After evidence, which was somewhat contradictory, his Worship gave judgment for L 4 10s 6d with costs LI 10s. C. B. Boysk v. J. Vaxstien. — Claim L 25 money lent. Mr J. S. Neave for plaintiff, and Mr D. Stewart for defendant, who put in a counter claim of L 25 14s (id goods and stores supplied. Tho plaintiff, in his evidence, stated that he lent defendant the money, giving a cheque for that amount, that all the goods he got were paid for in cash, and that he did not owe defendant anything at all. The defendant, on the other hand, alleged that the goods particularised were sold and delivered to plaintiff, and they were not paid for at the time, the amounts being debited to plaintiff's account at the times the goods were delivered. After evidence, his Worship commented on the conflicting statements of the plaintiff and defendant, and adjourned the case till Friday morning, when further evidence will be heard.
