[from oub own coeeespondent. I The fine weather has broken up at last. Early on Monday morning a thunder storm broke oyer tbe district, and was very severe frhile it lasted. It was accompanied by high winds and heavy falls of hail and rain, and to-day it is quite a winter's day. The Owaka river rose very rapidly, but I bave not beard of any damage done. The following play for Owaka v Ratanui next Saturday. — BaGks : G. Vial, C. Latta, W. Wright, A, Lees, Parker, and Fraser ; Forwards : Johnston, Paterson, Gordon, R. Fraser, Meeder, Paterson, Latta, M'Phie, and M'lntyre ; emergencies : M'Lean, Campbell, and Latta. Tbe laying out of fche recreation ground bas been begun, Mr James M'lntyre haying started the ploughing yesterday. , The dance given at Ratanui last Tuesday was a great success, and was largely attended. The annual soiree in connection with the Presbyterian Church takes place at Dewar's barn next Friday. March 10, 1894.
