KAITANGATA BOWLING CLUB.
The Kaitangata Bowling Club closed ! the season on Friday last, whan a match ■ town v. company's employes was played: | The committee with the view of reducing | the club's liabilities, "arranged that the ! players should appear in fancy costume, j also that a concert be held in the evening, j one ticket admitting to both. The players j are to be complimented on their appeari ance, each one in costume, from the | rear-admiral to the " real ould Donnybrciok car-driver," being a representation. The weather was cold and blustering, and no doubt interfered with the attendance. There were, however, a very good sprinkling of the fair sex present. The local brass band helped to enliven the proceedings by playing some choice pieces at intervals. The committee deserve the thanks of the bowling fraternity for trying to make bowling more attractive, and no doubt but their example on this occasion will be copied by other clubs. The match resulted in a win for the town, the scores being : Town, 59 ; employes, 51. Three rinks a-side were played.
