We held our usual weekly sale at our warehouse on Monday last at 10.30 a.m. pi-ecisely. There was a full gathering of shippers, speculators, millers and local produce dealers. The demand was equal to all offered, wheat ruling barely equal to last week's salo. Top price was grot for a vice line of velvet, grown hy Mossis A. Peat asd Sons, Mount Gowrie (Clarka), and a line of Hungarian, also grown at sime place, was much admired, for which 3s 41 was offered ; but we preferred keeping it for seed and more money. Oats were, perhaps, in a little brisker request, possibly due to the great filling off in deliveries by rail. Top prices. Is 4^d, was paid for a line of very clean short tartarian, grown by Mr John Sutherland (Waitahuna.) Barley,— Pome salts have been made, bnt tho quantity offering is far in excess of present requirements. Wo append priced catalogue. Cocksfoot- — Best samples, 3$ Ito 5 1 1 ; other, 2.Jd to 3 »d. Butter. — Prime salt, 6d to 8d per lb ; medium salt, 4AI to 5-i'l ; iuforior, 2d to 4d. Cheuse — Factory, 3Ad to 5Ad ; ordinary, 2.Jd to 3d. Linseed.— 4s to 5s 6d, according to quantity. Flax. — There is a better demand for bright, well -scutched fibre, and prices have recovered to a more renumerative standard Badly got-up scutched lots, inferior, and unscutched, are practically unsaleable. We quote— Best scutched and bright colour, LlO to L2O 10s ; other qualities scutched, Ll2 to Ll3 10s ; unscutched, L 8 j to Lll. Rabbitskins.— There is an increased demand for these, tho season having now advanced, so that skins are almost at'full fur. Buyers are most anxious to do business in best lines, but the quantity offering is unusually small. Other sorts are samn as at last sales. We quste — Best winter, carefully dressed, 15d to I7d per lb ; autumn and medium winter, lid to 14 Jd per lb ; summer, 5d to 10.J 1 per lb ; suckers and damaged, lid to 4 Ad per lb. THE BURNSIDE STOCK S<U<K3. Pat Cattle. — 198 head were yarded, mostljmedium quality, nothing of special note coining to haud ; in weight, too, they were on the light side. Butchers were in fair attendance, a.ul bid briskly for all suitable to their trade, and it was generally admitted prices were a shade higher than at last sale. Bullocks sold at L 5 to L 9 15s ; cows, L 2 10a to L 8 15s. We yarded 31 and sold as follows :— For Mr William Patrick,* Balmoral, 3 bullocks at L 8 12s 6d ; for Mr S Fot.herigall, South bridge, 7 bullocks at Lo 2s 6 I to L 7 10s ; for Messrs Craigie &' Sons, Titri. 7 bullocks at L 7 17s 6d ; for Mr Wm Kirkland, EUngrove, 3 bullocks at L 7 12s Gd to L 8 12s Gd, 4 beifere at L 7 7s 6d ; for Mr D.ivid Sutherland, Lochend, 2 cows at L 6 2s 6d ; for Mr John Bruce, West Taieri, 6 heifers at Li 2s Gd to L 4 12s-6d ; for Mr J R Thomson, Mosgiel, 2 heifers at L 5 ; for Messts M and J Allan, tho Flat, 2 heifers at L - Wo quote— Prime beef, 2ls to 22s 6d per 1001 bs : medium, 18s to 20s ; inferior, jfotb 173 : Gd : ',:>■-- , " .:

Store Cattle. — We have somi inquiry fpr these for forward delivery, while are in fcho belief they will see better prices next spring, a-jrl are holding; on. We placed every lino privately ab satisfactory prices. Fat Sheop. — 2113 punned, including JOO merinos. The bulk of the supply Were crossbred wethers, medium to extra prime, nn<l some par* ttcuiarly heavy weights ; while the pwes penned, were also (with one exception) a good lofc» The sale? opened briskly at prices fully equal to last; week, bub towards the close, notwithstanding the supply was below the general average, prices gave way and were decidedly earlier, There were no buyers for fceeziug, butchers taking all on, offer.-'-'Crosßbred wethers sold at 14s to lfh (of < extra ; do ewes, Os 6d to 17s for extra ; merino wethers, 8* to Us for extra. Wo peuned 538, and sold as follow* : —For Messrs Rattra-y and Co. (Wairuna, estate), 119 crossbred Wothers afc Us 91 to 15i G'l ; for Messrs A. and J Brown (Abbotsford), 20 crossbred wethers at 17s 01 ; on account of Mr A Douglas (Riccarfcon), 107 Leicester ewes at Ida to 17s, 21 tf half bred ewes (stores) at 9j 6d ; on account of Mr John Finch. (Milburn), 40 crossbred ewes at 13s 6d to 13a 9d ; on account of Mr Godfrey Foster (Milburn), 29 half bred ewes at 12s 9d. We quote — Mutton, 2^.1 to 3|d, skins and fat included. Fab Lambs.— Only 129 in. These were keenly competed for and brought high rates, vis.— For best, lls to 14s 3d ; others, Od 6d to 10-3 Gil. Pigs. — There was a large entry of these, 432 being pfinned. The greater part wore hpavy baconers and pot'keM, with some lines of small stores. All sorts were easier, especially small stores and suckers, which are hard to keep through tho winter months. Baconers sold afc 27s to 54s ; porkers, lSs fid to 2os 5 stores and stickers, 5s to 14s 6d. We sold for clients 85 at quotations. We quote—Prime pork, 2£d to 3Ad per lb. Store Sheep. -— Tbo season is well nigh over* feeders off turuips having secured what they re* qvihe. There is not now so much inquiry, prices for any for sale are still high, and therefore there is very little doing. During the week we placed 1500 crossbreds aud merinos at top prices.
