CONCERT AT CLINTON.

■ <»■ . ; , . [Vkom oub own corbbspokdbnt.J A concert in aid of St. JPeter'B Church, ' was held on Tuesday last in the schoolhouse. The - attendance was good, the room being well filled.- The programme, which consisted of two parts,, was 'gone; through in fine -style, and the whole : entertainment was in every respect a great success. The performers showed that /they had studied their respective parts weU under Mrs Lake's careful . and able training. While I was pleased to notice saveral of our veterans, who have- on frequent occasions acquitted themselves so ■well still in full vigour) I.was delighted to see not a fewdelatante coming out. rincharacter surprisingly-well-, ahd-rceeiyed; a well-deserved encore. Miss Greenwood also made her debut on this occasion, 5 and 1 delighted 1 the audience with; her' sweet voice. : I venture to predict that this lady under good training will become' -consider-' ; ably accomplished, and an acquisition- of. I no mean ■ standing to our musical -circle. Last, but not least,' I must mention: two ladies from your place, who- kindly assisted, 1 namely, Mrs Nicolnand .Miss Townsend. The former lady is no stranger here ; we have had the privilege of listening to her before, and, on this occasion, judgingfrom the frequent applause and encore, she well sustained her previous reputation. Of Mis Townsend I will only say that I hope she will- often favour us with her presence. She has a fine voice, and seems to be a carefully trained musician. After the concert, the Rev. Mr Knowles, who kindly presided on this occasion, re-turned-thanks to. the lady and gentlemen performers, especially mentioning - Mrs Lake and our lady visitors, and a pleasant evening's enjoyment closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
