TAIERI Lad, bred by Donald Grant, Esq., Kirklauds, West Taieri, rising four years old, was got by ?Emperor, out of Gentle Emperor, by Napoleon, imported from Scotland by the late John Nimmo, Esq., out of Nancy, imported from Scotland by W. H. Valpy, Esq. Gentle, by Champion, imported from bcotland, out of Betty ; Betty, bred by Captain Gardner, ! Dandenong, Victoria, by Old Reformer, imported from Scotland, out of Bessy, imported from Scotland by Captain Gardner. Betty as a yearold took first prize in 1854, as a two-year old, second in 1855, and Hon. Cer. in 1856, all in Melbourne. It -will be seen from his pedigree that Taieri Lad is as ptire a strain of Clydesdale blood as can be found in the Colonies. Taiebi Lad as a year-old gained the Silver Cup at the Taieri against twelve competitors ; as a two-year old, Silver Medal at Tokomairiro and Clutha Agricultural Show against five others ; as a three-year old, first premium at Clutha, and second in all ages at Clutha, 3874. Terms — £4. Groom's fee, ss, payable at first service. Guarantees as per agreement. An English grass paddock will be provided at 2s per week for Mares, payable on removal. Pedigree. — Young Emperor, bred by Robert Muir, Esq., North Taieri ; foaled December 2nd, 1872; got by the celebrated horse Emperor, bred by W. H. Valpy, Esq., out of Maggie Lauder, bred by John Barr, Esq. Emperor was got by Napoleon, imported, otit of Nancy, imported, bred by Mr Findlay, Easterhill, by Bailieston, Glasgow. Maggie Lauder was got by the celebrated horse Prince Charlie, imported to Melbourne by Messrs J. and M. M'lntosh, out of Blanche, imported by D. Nesbit, Esq. Young Emperor is a dapple bay horse, stands 162 hands high. He was exhibited at tho Taieri show in 1873 and 1874, and was both times a prize-taker ; at 3 years old took the first prize at the Agricultural Show, Oamaru : and third prize at Oamaru show in 1876, against all comers ; he also took third prize at the Palmerston Agricultural Show and at Balclutha last season against all comers. Maggie Lauder, his dam, has been the winner of 18 prizes, 9 of them being first prizes in Otago. He has proved himself a sure foal getter. Terms, £4; Groomage, 55., payable at time of service.
