RUNS.

The Waste Lands Board, at its meeting on Wednesday, took into "consideration the manner of dealing with a number of runs, the leases of which expire in March, 1880, in terms Of section 114:, Lands Act, 1877. The Chairman, in bringing the rAatter forward, laid a list of the ruhs, with descriptions of the country, &c. > upon tlie table*, and there were only two of the runs —Nos, 98. and "99^— the former Mr Teschemaker's,, the latter £>r Webster's — regarding which, in his opinion, there could not be any doubt as to the advisability of releasing. Tlie country was hilly and rough, had a carrying capacity of only one sheep to every three acres and -five acres. Still in both Cases tlie runs were adjacent to hundredis, the land in whicli^ had all been disposed -qf-, and it was possible ii put up for sale the land might be sold to advantage. The list of ruhs, their tenants, and the decisions come to in each, were as follows •: — Run No §B.— ka'urofc district; 8000. acres; carry 2650 sheep; rough and Mlly — W. H. Run No 99.— foiuYdo district; 1000 i*,crp"s ; carry 200 sheep ; tough arid hilly— G. M. Webster. , . ' , In regard to these two runs, it was determined that the whole lands within the runs are required for sale as rural lands under part II of Lands Act ; lessees to receive notice accordingly. Run No 421.— Ohau; 559,000 acres; carry 6500 sheep ; rough and high— G. Ludeman. — Determined to be re-leased in two pdrtions for 10 years at £10 ' j. er annum each. Run No 424.— Waikaia Bush ; 17,800 acres ; carry 6000 sheep; mountainous,. 2000 to 4000 feet high, very rough— ; John M'Kellar.- Determined to be re-leased in two portions for 10 years at £126 per annum each. Run Mo 425a.— Waikaia Bush ; 12,000 acres ; cary 1940 sheep ; very rough, 'cold cduritry—Cargill and Anderson.— lo,7oo acres of this run being under orders for survey, it was resolved to add the remaining 1300 acres to No 425 b. Run. No 425 b. —Waikaia Bush; 16,500 acres; carry 2560 sheep ; very rou&h, cold country — J. Clarke.— Tp be re-leased for 10 years at £100 per annum, with exception of 1000 acres Under survey. Run No 43' i - Waikaia ; 63,000 acres ; 9000 sheep ; high, rough country— Joseph. Clarke. - To be re-leased in two portions for 10 years — 34,500 acres at £180, and 28,500 acres at £150.
