Public notice is hereby given that at the Nomination of Candidates for the office of Councillors, for the Borough of Balclutha, held on Tuesday, the 3rd inst. , the following gentlemen were nominated : East Ward. Alexander Bain ITrank Stephen Canning Allan C. Campbell John Dunne Gilbert M'Dougall Joseph Potter Seaton Porter. North Ward. Charles Vincent Brewer Frank Stephen Canning Robert Hogg George W. As the number of Candidates exceeds the number of offices to be filled in the several Wards, I hereby give pubhc notice that the poll will take place on Thursday, September 12, commencing at 9 o'clock in the forenoon, and terminating at 6 o'clock in the evening. RETIREMENT OF CANDIDATES. I hereby give -pnblic -notice that I have received intimation from Rohert Hogg that he has retired from the election of Councillor for South Ward, Borough of Balclutha. Also, from Seaton Porter, that he has retired from the election of - -Councillor for East Ward of the said Borough. I have therefore to give notice that the said Robert Hogg and Seaton Porter are not capable of being elected as Councillors for the Wards from the election of which they have respectively retired.
