g Mr Henry Diuvevi reports, that tho attendance at the Kuriwao salo was very good, including buyers from Al ataura, Tapnnui, Lawrence, Alilton, and Duncdiu. ' (5,500 sheep wore sold— cross-breds stores, mixed sexes, realised 10s 3d ; merinos, Gs ,">d. Furniture, plant, etc., etc., sold by private treaty. Messrs Maclean Bkothf.ks report for tho week ending August 15, as follows : — b.it Cattle. — For this day's market there was a very short supply, 100 bead only being yarded. Of these a considerable portion was of really prime quality, tho remainder being very good beef, Prices consequently were firmer on tho whole, and bent quality may be quoted at 2s 6d higher than last week, or, any, up to 35s per 1001 b. Good ordinary quality from 27s 6d to 32s Gel. At the yards we sold 25 head at from £9 to £12 2sGd. A very superior lot from tho New Zealand and Australian Co., Totara Estate, fetched from £12 2s 6d to £15. Fat Sheep. — 2(>13 were penned, nearly all of which were of excellent quality, and as tho stock in hands of butchers was very light, all were readily disposed of at an advance on last week's rates. At the yards wo sold, on account of A. and W. Cochraue and others, 524 cross-breds at 15s each, 500 do at 12s 6d each — equal to fully 3d per lb for best quality. Wo would remark, notwithstanding reports to the contrary, that not one of these sheep changed hands prior to the salo by auction, Storo Cattle. — We have no transactions to report. The demand, except for well- conditioned | stores, is very slight. Storo Sheep are without material change, there Wei tig a good demand both for young merinos and cross-breds. Very few, however, are offering, as is usual ab this season, and in the absence of sales, quotations are nominal. Wool. — In this market there has been no business done during the week, fellmonge;'s lots being the onlj T description on offer. Considerable anxiety is manifested in regard to the opening of the August sales on the 14th instant, and of which advices arc hourly expected. Sheepskins.— Our catalogues on Monday last comprised 1150 skins, for which tho competition was active. Pry skins brought from Is 2d to 4s Id ; green cross-breds of average quality up to 5s 7cl. Hides continue in fair request, ami last quotations are fully maintained — say up to 4-hd per lb for good sound wot salted. Tallow. — Only 10 packages were on hand for our sale on Monday, which sold at from 22s (5d to 29s 3d. We quote good bright mutton at up to S3s 6d per cwt ; fair mixed, at 29s to 31s 6d. Grain. — Wheat : Prime samples may still be quoted up to 7s 9d per bushel. The demand, however, is less active, and very few transactions have been concluded during the week. Ordinary descriptions are worth from 5s fid to Gs 9d, according to quality. Fowl feed and inferior milling, 3s 6d to ss.
