DRAUGHT AND BLOOD STOCK.
By s.s. Tararua some of the finest specimens of draught stock which have ever left the shores of Tasmania will be shipped. They have been selected wich great care by Mr John M'lntosh, who has had considerable experience in the Australian Colonies in this direction, and he is to be highly congratulated on his present purchases. Indeed we must confess that it is a great pity to see such animals leave Tasmania, for we know it will be hard to replace them. We yesterday had an opportunity of inspecting the stock at the Dement Livery stables, and the first animal shown us was a fine upstanding three -year-old entire, named Jack's the Lad, who is by Sir Colin Campbell from Blossom by Clyde (imp.)^ and was bred by Mr John Symmond of the Oaks. This horse has taken several prizes in the North, where he is thought a great deal of. The next box entered contained a splendid two-year-old colt named Superior, who is by Baron of Clyde (imp.), from Blossom, and the v» inner of several prizes. He was bred by Mr M'Kinnon, of Mountford. The
next shown was the gem of the lot., an immensely boned colt, named King o' the Ring, two years old, and by Kibowie (imp.), dam a Lincolnshire Hero mare. This remarkably fine specimen of the draught stock stands 16 hands high, and was bred by that wellknown judge of stock, Mr Trethewie, and one of the best judges of stock we have, who has been a breeder for many years, pronounced him " the finest horse he had seen in the Colony." A blood entire named Staunterer, a very handsome horse, and is by Peter Wilkins (imp.), from a Little John mare, was also inspected by us. Being so well bred, claiming as he does the celebrated Quack, and other distinguished animals as relatives, this horse should make a name for himself whenever he goes. Besides the above Mr M'lntosh takes with him fifteen specimens of the canine tribe, representing eleven Sraithfields, two pointers, and two kangaroo dogs. — Hobart Town Mercury.
