SALE OF THE UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS.
A special meeting- of the University. • Council was held yesterday afternoon, when an offer from the general manager ' of the Colonial Bank of New Zealand '■■ for the purchase ot the Uuiversity buildin »-s was received. After consideration the following 1 resolution was unanimously adopted, viz. :— -
" The offer of the Colonial BanV of " -New Zealand, of £27,000, be accepted; '- in .terms of. Mr Cowie's letter, , and that the Registrar be instructed to infbrin the. general manager thai, in. the state- ,\ ment of the terms of. sale, the Uni- j versity bell and clock were not cbn-^ -\ sidered fixtures appertaining 1 to. the building, it having- been the intention ; of the: Council to reserve thrun. for the . new .'University.''-,. ,' "' ■''■. '"' ,. ',-'■' i- '- v \ i Possession of the premises ".will not; tie ; ; \ given/, ibefare/ the close of "the present". University. isessidn.
