The nomination of a member -■foi'- the I Tokomairiro Riding, County of Bruce, was held in the Council Chambers, -Mil-, ton, at noon yesterday. About 15 electors were present, Mr <*eorge Capstick, returning officer, presiding. Mr Robert Murray was "proposed by Mr William Tweedie, and seconded by Mr John Pringle. .. There being no 'other candidate, Mr Murray was declared duly elected. Mr Murray briefly thanked the electors for the honour they had done him. They had now known Kirn for' many years, and he \ trusted' they 'would continue to place, the. j same confidence in him in the future -as they had done in the past. He would: do his utmost to prove worthy of the trust* He would see that all the funds at the disposal of the Council were equitably distributed amongst the different Ridings. He was opposed to borrowing, but would promote reproductive works. He was also opposed to credit, and thought the country shoiild have a little breathing tim-e, free from needless legislation, and adopt a self -reliant, policy, under which he believed it would continue prosperous and free. Mr Murray's remarks were warmly applauded. A vote qf thanks to the returning officer concluded the proceedings.
