MATAU ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Matau Road Board Avas held on Mondayevening last. There were present : Messrs Inglis (chairman), . feniith, Sniaill, Bell, G.^M'Donald, arid R. MacdonakV. The minutes of previous meeting were rgad and confirmed. . ,

A letter was road from Mr A. Anderson, in reply to an extract minute of special meeting held on 7th .August, de 7 dining to pay half the cost of the proposed breakwater opposite his property. The whole matter wis discussed afresh by the Board, and it was resolved to offer Mr Anderson £15 to assist him hi carrying out the work according to his own ideas.

A letter was read frqm Messrs Turner and Neil, complaining of the impassable state of the road at the lower part of the island. — The letter was received, and Mr Bell instructed to examine into the matter , and report at next meeting;

Letters 'were also received from Mj&ssrg Darling and Wright in reply as to obstruction of the road opposite, th'oir properties by a growth of gorse. They stated that as they had neither planted nor sown gorse, they declined to comply with the request. — No action was taken in the matter.

A letter was read from the Secretary b£ Works, intimating that the vote passed for the road Main South Trunk to Kai~ tangrita would be expended so soon as the weather would permit. , Mr. W.
