Dunedin Races
I^liese races were held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday last, and as usual were attended 'by very large crowds both from town "and country. The numbers pf&sent on. the first day have been variously estimated af from '4000 to 8000.. There was an excellent band in attendance, and all the usual concomitants of metropolitan races. The weather was fine, but, in, consequence ot the previous rain the course was very greasy. The only accident 7 of any consequence; was that; to.. Rp'ry ( 'O'More, when" running for the Publicans' Handicap on Thursday. " He apparently had overstrained, himself, for ,he suddenly fell down. He was shot the same evening^ when it was found • his back had . been broken. His jockey. Batty, was pitched into the ditch, but was only slightly injured. The following' were the. events:— \ .
