§AT Cattle.— The number yarded, 163 head, was beyond trade requirements, in consequence of which a portion were turned out, and prices suffered a decline of folly 5s per lOOlbs from last week's rates. Our sales consisted of 71 head, on account of J. E. Elder, Esq., Mrs Gow, Messrs Sawers, Kenton, and others. Bullocks brought from £11 15s to £13 10a ; cows from £8 10s to £11 ; say equal to 33s to 35s per lOOlbs for good quality, and 28s tp 30a for medium ditto. Fat Calves.— The demand is good, but the number coming forward is small.
3? at Sheep.— There was again an over suppty, 2300 beingpenned, of which about two-thirds found buyers, but at of fully 2s per head on last week's "prices. We sold on account of'the N?Z. and A. L. Co., 600 shorn eross T bred» at lis 9d ; and on account-^of James Gall, Esq., 400 cross-breds, in wool- at 16s. We qnote prime mwtton, in wool, Sidpe^lb; do, Bhorn,2ldto 2^d. '7 Fat 1i4M83. — About 100 were penned, mostly of inferjorquality, which sold at from Ss 6d to : 10s eactGN*. .
Sroß-fG-UriiE.— There is still a good demand far well-grown cattle. During the week we sold 78 head, cows'iiod bullocks, at £5 17s 5d round. We quote bullocks, 3to 5 years old, £7 10s to £8 10s ; cows, £5 to £6 10s ; mixed lots, £3 15s to £4 10s.
Store Sheep. — -"Very little business has been done as yet in this class of stock, but we anticipate a fair demand as soon as shearing is finished. We quote cross-breds, 4 and 9-toptb, 10s ; do. 2*tooth,-Bstoßs 6d; lambs,;7sto 7s Gd; merino wethers, -2, 4, 6, and 8-tooth, 5s 6d to 6s ; do do, full-mouthed 3a 6d to 4s 6d; do ewes, 2, 4, and 6-tooth, 8s toßs 6d ; do do, full-mouthed, 3s to 3s Gd. W« sold 520 merinos and cross-breds at above x| notations. Stud Stock. — Wo have to report having sold ofa. account of the N. Z. and A. -L. Co., 24 Lincoln rams at £14 each ; also on- account of E. Menldye, Esq., 60 Leicester and Lincoln rams. Coxmrar' Sales. -On Thursday we held our monthly sale at Palmerston. . The attendance was moderate, but a considerable amount of Btock came forward, of which a fair proportion changed hands. Draught colts brought from £45 to £50 ; light harness do, £17 to £18; steers 2 years old, £5 10s ; fat cattle, £10 15s round. HOBS-J3.— Our market on Saturday . was well supplied with all classes of horses, most of which found hvycra. .- W« = sold .» draf h'o£ pro-yioclal-bred light oolia at from £3 to £ If}. We quote first-C-ABB draughts. £60 to £70 ; medium do, £45 to £55 ; light do, £27 to £40 ; ; good hacks and ligbt harness horses, £20 to £30; medium do, £14 to £18 ; light ahd inferior, £5 to £10. ■- WOOL.— In consequence of the interruption of cable communication between Australia and Europe, we are without any later news of the Home market. At our weekly sale we disposed •of a few small lots of greasy and scoured at from 9d to 10^d per lb for former, and Is 4d to Is 6d for latter. We expect to hold our opening sale towards the end of this month.
Taixow. — Good lots suitable for shipment wanted, but none offering. We disposed of a few tons inferior at from £24 to £28 per ton. SH-.E-?SitiNß. — At our weekly sale there was a -good attendance of buyers. The biddings were .very spirited and prices obtained showed an advance on last week's rates. Our sales were as follows:— Butchers' green skins,- half-breds, 5s 9d t) 09 4A ; merinos, 5s 2d to 5s od ; station •skins, 3s 10d to, 5s Id ; lambskins, ls 4d each. Hides are in good demand at improving prices. -We sold medium weights at 20s and light at 14s .Gd to 15s 3d each.; calfskins at 2s 3d.
Grain. — We have no change to report since our last. Wheat continues in fair demand at from 4a 6d to 4s 8d per bushel for prime, and 4s 3d to 4s 4d for medium Bamples. t Fowls' feed scarce and wanted at from 3s 6d to *4s. Oats are ■in good demand for shipment, feed being worth 2s to 2a Id, and milling samples 2s 2d per bushel.
