Wool. — Cablegrams to the 20th August advise wool steady, .without recovering the decline in prices at the commencement of the tales. Foreign buyers operating largely. Sheepskins were in short supply at the sales last Thursday, with brisk demand, prices' recovering the decline of the previous week. "We sold green cross-breds at 6s lOd to 6s 5d eaoh : merinos, 4s 9d ; dry skins, cross-breds, 6s 3d ; station skins, short-wool merinos, 6|d per lb. Hides are a little better in demand. For wellcopditnoned shipping parcels we obtained 4d per lb: medium hides, 17s to 20a 3d j ordinary, 13s 9d, yearlings, "7s 3d. Tallow. — A few lots of country-melted brought 28s 6d for good to 22s for ordinary. Grain.— Wheat is ready sale at 4s to 4s 6d for fair to good nulling up to" 4s 8d for very prime : fowls' feed, 4a. Oats are. more inquired for this week, without leading to much business : present •quotations are with difficulty maintained— 2s 8d for good feed, 2s lOd milling. Barley is unaltered in value; for malting, 54 6d to 6s; inferior dull of sale.
