Town Council.

— , 0 . A special meeting of the Balclutha Town Council waa held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. There were present : His Worship the Mayor (presiding) and Councillors Mason, Kilgour, and Hope. Hia Worship explained the meeting had been called to consider a letter which Mr M'Owtn, agent of the Bank of New Zealand, had addressed to the Town Clerk, as follows : Dear Sir, — Referring to the account of the* Balclutha Corporation at this office, I am willing to allow same a margin of overdraft gay L 10 0; the accouut being at present •rerdrawn L 225. 1 would feel obliged by your having it reduced to the limit above named. — Yours faithfully, B.OBT, M'OWBN, Agent. On the motion of Mr Kilgour, seconded by Mr Mason, the letter was received. His Worship said he expected some accounts would be handed in for payment at next ordinary meeting, and some arrangement would require to be made for meeting them before that time. After a conversation, Mr Mason moved thaf the matter be referred to a Committee to enquire and report at another special meeting, to be held at half- past 6 o'clock on Friday evening, said Committee to coneiit of Mr Kilgour, his Worship the Mayor and the mover. Seconded by Mr Hope and carried. The meeting then adjourned.
