SOCIETIES of this kind are now so common, and the good they have done i n settling the country, and inducing habits of saving surplus earnings among the people, especially working ■■ men, is so -patent to every one in the colony, that it is unnecessary to recapitulate the advantages of such an ' association. In endeavoring to institute a Building Society in this district, the promoters do not depend entirely on tho Township of Kaitangata, but merely consider it as the centre of a district which is rich in produce, and every year increasing in wealth and popula- . tion. j It is confidently expected that the settlers of Inch "Clutha, Wangaloa, Tuakitoto, &c, will readily come forward and assist this further movement towards progress by taking shares in the proposed society. A Building Society in Kaitangata will be eminently advantageous to bona fids shareholders there being few capitalists in the district going into the thing as a safe sinking investment, thereby drawing profits and not contributing anything towards the first aim . and end of such a Society, viz , a Mutual Benefit Savings and Loan Society. Applications have been already received for 720 shares from 72 applicants, and consequently the success of the Society is a certainty. The Shares will be Twenty-five Pounds (£25), to be raised by a monthly . subscription of Three Shillings (3s) per , share j entrance money, Two shillings (2s) per share. Application for Shares on the annexed foim, accompanied with the entrance money to be sent to the Secre- . tary at Kaitangata, or the National ' Bank of New Zealand, Balclutha. ; ggi" The Share List will remain open until 10th of June, FORM OF APPLICATION FOR SHARE!-!. Tp the Committee of the " Kaitangata Building and Investment Society," GENTLEMEN, ! / request you will allot to me, and register my name as a subscriber for Shares in the above Society , for which I enclose the entrance fee of two shillings per share, to be applied . towards the preliminary expenses.
