Another collision has occurred on the Midland line, near Nottingham. It was attended by severe mutilation to passengers, and great destruction of rolling stock. A train- of twelve carriages ran off the line about twenty miles from Hull. Serious injuries but no deaths ensued. Some scandal has been caused by the backsliding of one " Bendigo," ' once the champion of England in the prize ring, but for the last few years a revivalist preacher. The ' Nottingham Journal' stated that he had attended a pigeon match at Beeston, near that town,, betted freely, and used such language as to call down upon him the rebukes of the bystanders. The ' Telegraph says that a great open air service was held on Sunday last, when Bendigo appeared on the platform and admitted having been at the match, and bet upon a bird, but he denied having used bad language. . He said when he found he had done wrong he went home and told God, who had forgiven him and taken him back again. After this confessionthere was general rejoicing, and Bendigo, assisted by the congregation, sang the following verse : — Tne devil had me once, but he let me go. Glory Hallelujah ! He wants me again, but I don't mean to go, Glory Hallelujah.
