GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

Dotjedin.— Wright, Stephenson, &. Co report : — "Wheat is slow of sale, with very few transactions taking- place. Oats are in better supply and' prices rather easier. We quote feed, 2s 8d to- 2s 9d ; milling, up to 8s per bushel. Barley— Good" malting is readily saleable at from 5s 3d to 5s per bushel, according to condition. Maclean Bros, report :— Prices- remain without alteration; but we note a slightly improved demand for all descriptions. Prime Northern wheat is worth 4s 3d ; ordinary, very dull of sale at 3s lOd to 4s. Good malting barley is in request at 5s 6d to 5s 9d ;. ordinary quality, however, commands but little attention, and cannot be quoted over ss. Oats are moving in small lots at 2s 9d to 3s for good feed to prime milling respectively Canterbury.— Deliveries ©f grain from farmers have been limited, and business has been principally confined to. the completion of speculative wheat shipments to the home market. The ship Hudson sailed on May 3rd with a full cargo of wheat, and the Lady Jocelyn is also ready for sea, and takes a large quantity for the home 'market, Melbourne advices intimate a decline in oats owing to large arrivals from Tasmania and New Zealand ports, and it does not seem unlikely that ere long long prices will give way here, when we take into consideration tbe large stocks held in the' southern districts. ,Most orders to this market have been executed, and only a limited quantity of oats will be required from this quarter till- the spring sets .in. Barley is decidedly easier, and now that brewers are well stocked, exporters show no disposition to eperate at the late rates. Potatoes are a shade better, and a trifle aver quotations was obtained for a parcel wanted for immediate shipment. A brisk trade is still doing in flour both for export and town demand, and millers are well supplied with orders. Cash quotations paid farmers are as follows:— Milling wheat, 3s 9d ; oats, 3s ; barley, 4s Cd ; hams and . bacon, UJd to-ls ; potatoes, £0 ; flour, £10 to £11 ; bran, £5 10s ; sharps, £6 ; cheese, 9*d : butter,, is sdtols6d. -
