DUNEDIN SALE YARDS.

Horses.— Heavy draughts and strong coaehers »re in good demand. At the yards, on Saturday, a consi<*nment of heavy draughts, ex Omeo, from Melbourne, were eoU as follows :-The Imported Clydesdale draught mare Flower, to Mr John Chaplin for £105 ; Priucess Maude, to Mr William Grant for £80 ; Lily. *o Mr John Thomson for £56. The two latter mares had each a premising foal at foot by Conquerer, and are again in foal to the same horse Flower's foal was sold in Melbourne before leaving at £K's yuhiea*. The geldiugs and remainIng mares brought fi-om £.40 to £55. On account of MrW. A, Chapman, a draught of light provincialbred colts were sold, at from £8 to £15. Heavy draught mares are quoted nt £70 to £80 ; medium draughts, £50 to £60 ; liyht do, £30 to £40 ; good hacks and light harness horses, ♦25 to £35 ; medium do £14 to £20 ; light and inferior, £3 to £7. Store Sheep.— Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report:—We have buyers for young merino sheep, and for 4 and O-tootii half-brcds. Old sheep are rather dull of sale. We quote balf-breds, 4 and 6tooth, lls 6d to !2s Cd ; do, 2- tooth, 10s ; do lambs, 7b 6d to 8a •, merino wethers, 4 and 6-tooth, 7b ; do do, tull-mouthed, 5s Cd to 6s ; do ewes, 2 and 4tOOtb. 8s to 8s 6d ; do, full-mouthed, 3s 6d to 4s 6d. At above rates they Eold ooOt> half-breds and fullmouthed merino ewes. H. Driver reports :— The number of sound young Bheep offering is quite insufficient to meet the very large demand whioh still exists Cross-breds, 4-toofu and upwards, are also scarce and very saleable . During the week I sold 7500 at the following prieen : say, for cross-breds, 4 and 6-tootb, 12s Cd to 13s ; do, 2-tooth, 10s to 13s; lambs, gs ; merino ewes, -2, 4, and 6-tooth, 8s to 9s ; do full-mouthed. 4s Cd to 5s fid ; do wethers, 2, 4, and 6-tooth, 8s to 0s ; full-snouthed, 5s to 6s. Fat Sheep were in excessive supply, some 2000 having been penned, of which barely half were sold. Prime cross-bredsre ilised from 1 4s to 17s. Merinos, loa to 14s; or equal to 3^d for the lormer, and 2id to 2|d for the latter per pound, which we quote as market rates for iirime quality. Wright, Stephenson, and Co, sold 320 merino ewes at 10s ; 500 merino wethers at from Ss to 14s ; and 150 crossbreds at from Us to ids. Privately they sold for forward delivery 7 '<> at 3J per lb. H. Driver sold 600 at quotation*. Store Cattle. -Enquiries are made for grown cattle, but very lew. are oflerinu". We quote bullocks, 3to 5 years old, £5 to £6 ; cows, £1 to £4 10s : mixed lots. £3 to £3 His. 11. Driver placed 250 at the following-prices, eay up to £6 10s for well-known quiet bullocks, and up to £4 4s for cows. Fat Lambs,— as the season for fat lambs is drawing to a close, prices are little over store rates. 120 were penned, which brought from 7s 9d to 10s Fat Calves were in good request owing to the very small supply forward. A few were sold at from £1 10s to-£3 10s each. Fat Cattlk.— A full supply came to hand. 185 head were yarded, of which Wright, Stephenson, & Co. sold 40 bead at from £8 to 49 6s for bullocks, and £6 178 fid to £9 for cowe— equal to 2<s per lOOlbs.for good quality, and 23s lor medium do. Maclean Bros'. Bales at 'the yards consißted of 65 head, on account of Messrs Nichol, Miller, and others, at the following prices :-Bullock S , £7 10s to *I1 ss ; cows 1,6 7s 0d to L9 15a, equal to 25s to 27s 6d . for prune quality per 1001b. They have also 501d 45 head privately, at L7 to Ll2. H. Driver sold 82 head on account of Messrs Christie, Lindsay, Maunsell, Fraw, and others, and placed 150 head for forward delivery .
