THE LABOR MARKET.
There are very few people to be got at present to , supply the large demand for laborers of all kinds, especially harvest bands. Females and servants, as usual, are at a premium, and have it pretty much their own way. The building trade is busy iv town and country. Laborers for road and rail, &c, are needed. Wages—Harvest hands, about =£2 per week; farm hands, £55 to £65 ; couples, from £75 to £90; servant girlß, from £26 to £36; experienced, I •' do, £40, L 45, L 52, and more;. carpenters, 12s to 14s; . masons, 15s and upwards; station cooks, 30a per week; gardeners, grooms, and waiters, from 25s to ! - 20s and 35s ; dairyJutjdß, 15s and 208.
