The old crops of oats and wheat are now pretty well cleared out of the district, and no business has as yet been done in the new crop. The low price of new wheat in Canterbury, (8s per bushel) will act very preiudically on prices here. Oats are more -:, likely to be a paying- crop this season and it shows considerable toresight on the part of settlers, that there is an unusually large growth of oats. While wheat has not been grown to the same extent as formerly. Prices—Oats none; wheat none; barley, 4s to 4s 6d; potatoes, 15s per ewt; barley, 4s to 4s 6d; new potatoes, 15s per cwt ; Dunedin flour, £15 per ton -, Clutha fleur, of excellent quality, £12 108. Freights from Dunedin by steamer to Balclutha, 355; by dray, 60s per ton. From Dunedin to Tapanui. £5 per ton; trom Balclutha to Tapanui, £3 10s; Clinton, 30s: Mataura £5.
