Only 29 deaths altogether are attributed to famine in Bombay.

. Sir A. Clark's Government are bent upon developing the great resources of the Malayan Peninsula. Three thousand five hundred disciplined troops under General Liug arrived in three steamers; 3000 more follow.

A great typhoon has occurred in Hong Kong and Macao, which caused great loss of life and property. A severe earthquake has teken place in Japan.
