A Human Fiend.
ap . The meanest man alive is a woman whipper. There cannot be anything so mean, so vile, so depraved as a man who will strike a woman. It matters not what provocation may be given, such a man out- Herod's Herod in infamy, and sinks himself as low down as a brute. Just such, a brute we have living in this country. He resides in Bloomfield township, and his name is Aaron Beck. A few days ago this fiend found a woman passing his house, a Mrs. Pickle, whom he hated, and finding her alone, caught hold of her by the hair of the head and cowhided her until the blood streamed from every pore. Great welts were produced all over her body and face, as thick as the dexter finger of a man's hand, As soon as this human fiend had performed this wonderful feat, he mounted his horse, rode to North Bloomfield, got a man to lodge a complaint against him, pleaded guilty, and was fined by justice Smith just ten dollars for his fiendish act. On the same day a warrant was issued by Justice Ayers, of North Columbia, on complaint of Mrs Pickle, which was served on Sunday, the 12th. When the woman whipper was brought into Court (Sunday morning) he deliberately pleaded a forntier conviction for. the offence, and produced a certificate to that effect, signed by Justice Smith. Of course he was discharged. Subsequently he was placed under bond to keep the peace to Mrs Pickle, for the period pf six months. A suit in civil damages has been commenced against the wretch by Mrs Pickle, which is now pending. In our opinion a whip should be placed in the hands, of every woman in Bloomfield township, and licence given them to lash the fiend whenever and wherever they can find him. — * American Exchange.' '
