VOTES FOR THE CLUTHA DISTRICT.
It is doubtful if the c e&ists a constituency throughout theProvin.de which does not con aider its district sub j Scted to all sorts of ii- justice in the math r of the dißtribution of -the public revenues. During the passing of. theY estimates each member exerts himself to secure as large a share as possible for his. own district, and if unsuc« ceseful in ? getting %% . all he wanted^' he \ia not unfr quentiy blamed for, hjs warftbj tact, influence, ofsomeother quality which it is supposed anight hu ye enabled him to have secured a larger share of the spoils.' It would be easy to point- out many necessary works throughout the Clutha district which we think should .have been under* taken by the Government years ago, but our present object is not to find fault. Through the exertions at tbe members ior the <3lut ha considerable sums were voted for this district at last session of the Provincial Council, and in order that the public may see that their interests have been attended to, and know the works to be undertaken, we give a list of thete vote*.
