Congregational Meeting, Port Molyneux.
A meeting of the Port Molyneux congregation was held last Friday evening, to take into consideration the erection of a new place of worship.
The Rev. Mr Bannerman having explained the object of the meeting, and called attention to the necessity from the state of the *• present building of having a new church erected as early as possible, the following motions were unanimously adopted: —
i. Moved by Mr James Paterson, seconded by Mr Shields, " That the time has now arrived when tbe intetests of religion,, and the comfort of the congregation in the public service of Almighty God, requires that a new church building be immediately proceeded with.".
2. Moved by Mr Hay, seconded by Mr Paterson, "That to carry out the first resolution a.cotmmttee, consisting of Messrs Tait, Wylie, Henderson, and Brugh, be appointed to act along with the office bearers as a Building Committee, the said committee to have power to collect subscriptions, obtain plans and estimate?, and to make all arrangements necessary to have tbe Church erected at as early a date as possible."
s. Moved by Mr Henderson, seconded by Mr Hay, « That in the event- of the sums collected by eubacripttoa and otherwise not being sufficient to, complete tbe building, the Building Committee be authorised to borrow the balance required, or to. make such other arrangements as they may see best, co a*, to secure tbe prompt erection of a suitable building." Mr James Paterson was appointed Convener of the Building Committee and Treasurer.
It was also agreed that a icircubrV em* bodying tbatesolutions adopted, be sent to the members and others of the congregation, and requesting them to report their subscriptions to Mr Pater son not later than the J 9th September.
