Messrs. J. and A. Maclean report, for the week ending 18th August, as follows:— -t Fat Cattle.—The market was very largely supplied on Wednesday, over 200 head being yarded, and as the supply last week was very inferior; the .trade had very few on hand, consequently nearly every lot was disposed of at prices fully equal to last week's rates Our sales-consisted of 30 head, on account of Messrs. Nichel, Wallace, Clark, and others, which realised from L 8 to Ll2 for bullocks, and from L 7 to LlO 2s 6d for cows. We quote reaUy prime beef 27s 6d to 32s 6d per lOOlb; medium and inferior, 20s to 255.' . Fat Sheep.—About 1000 of all sorts were penned, the greater proportion of which were prime quality cross-breds, and realised full rates, viz.—for crossbreds, from 22s .to 23s each; second quality do," 10s to 14s ; merinos, 6s to 10s. Our sales consisted of 295 crossbreds at above quotations. We also de--livered during the week 500 prime quality at market rates. We quote prime quality crossbred mutton, 4d per lb; do merino, 3d to 3jd. Fat Calves.—Only a few inferior to medium quality were forward, which realised from 15s to 30s each, according to quality. :. Store Cattle.—We have a few inquiries for this description of stock, deliverable next month, when we anticipate a good demand .or well-bred and grown cattle, which we quote "at;— For bullocks, from L3los to L 4 10s; cows, from L 2 10s to L 3 10b ; mixed herds, 40s to 60s, according to condition and breeding. Store Sheep.—Very tew lots of this class of sheep are now changing hands. We have inquiries for young sheep of various sorts, with few offering. For the week, we have no transactions of any note to report. We quote —Half-bred ewcs.\ in lamb, 13s to 16s; wethers, 10s to 12s; lambs, 7s to 88; merino wethers, 6s 6dto 7b ; full-mouthed awes, 5s 6d to 6s. Wool and Sheepskins'.—We will hold our next sale in the beginning of the week,, when we will offer a few odd lots of wool and a number of heavywoolled sheepskins. ...... Hides, dec—.Are in better demand, and maybe quoted at from 4d to 4_d per lb, for prime salted. We will offer at our next sale a large parcel of prime heavy weights, and several lots of prime quality tallow. : Grain.—The market for the week has been very quiet, and few lots have changed hands. Quotations remain unaltered, viz.; Prime samples wheat, 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; medium and inferior, 4s to 4s 3d; milling samples oats, 4s 3d to 4s Qd; good feed, 4s to 4s; 3d. We have placed several lots at quotations during the week; also several lots of potatoes,'at from L 6 10s to L6l6s 6d°_>er ton. .-• '; . Christchobch, Aug, 13. Export quotations :—Wheat, 6s to 6s 3d; barl.y, 6s 6d to 6a 7d; oats, 4s 9d; flour, H2 to LI3; bran, L 6; pollard, L 6; sharps, 1.7; potatoes, L 6 6s. Potatoes and oats are scarce. Millers' stocks of wheat are low.
