BALCLUTHA DRAMATIC CLUB.
An adjourned meeting of tbe above Club was held in tbe Crown Hotel on Saturday evening, the 11 th inst.. at 9 o'clock.
Members present: Messrs. Cramond (chair), Finn, Campbell, Watmaugb, Renner, Jamie, Hogg, Rennert, and J. Low. : The minutes of the last meeting were read. v The Chairman stated that the object of the meeting was to ascertain the opinions of the various members respecting a resolution carried at the last meeting, viz., the purchasing of a piano. The Chairman expressed his regret at seeing so few of the members pre?ent on an occasion of such importance. However, this, was to be accounted for in , consequence ol its being Saturday night, several members being unable to be present by reason of their business engagement?. 1* Mr. WatniougTi proposed "That the action of the sub-committee in the purchasing of a piano be confirmed." Seconded by Mr.; ReuneTt. - - ■ ■ - Mr. damie moved, and Mr A. C, Campbell seconded, as an amendment, "That the piano be not purchased." . Aftet considerable discussion, the amendment was put to the meeting, and losV only two voting for if. Mr. Hogg propeseoVand Mr. Watmaugh seconded, the Secretary" be instructed to write, to each member of the Glub'whb has been such for twelvemonths, informing them that their yearly subscription of 2s. Cd.is now due." Mr. Finn moved, bs . an. amendment, •'That the motion be advertised 1 in the Ci/otha Leader." Seconded by Mr.JTamie and carried..
Mr. Hogg proposed, and Mr; Reunert seconded, "That the annual subscription become due on the first day of July,, and that any member failing.to pay hig subscription within thirty-one days after that date he ceases to be a memberof the Club. The said rule to be retrospective."—Carried.
Thefollowins.eentlemen were proposed as'members nf the Club I—Messrs. Muir, >Algie, and Kelly. It was proposed by Mr. Finn, and seconded by Mr. Beunert, " That chequeboxes begot." —Carried. Mr. Hogg proposed, " That a sub-com-mittee be appointed to arrange about gettingfaT suitable place to keep the piano." Messrs. Rentier, Cramohd, and Hojjg were elected a' sub-committee for the purpn«e. - - This concluded the business, and with the iißu:i! oinpliu.cnt to the Chairman, the meeting broke up.
