U-18 team 81 for one
The Canterbury under--18 cricket team was 81 runs for one against Otago at stumps in the national tournament in Wellington yesterday. Canterbury won the toss and put Otago in to bat, Otago made 93 for three by lunch and declared at afternoon tea at 268 for eight off 97 overs. Batting statistics for Otago were: A. Haig 70, A. Wills 65, I. Billcliff 46. Canterbury’s Gary Stead took three for 63 off 30 overs and Robert Allison three for 64 off 15 overs. Canterburyjs 81 runs came from Gary Stead, 26; Dale Jemmett, 30 n. 0.; and Glenn Muir, 10 n.o. Other games resulted: Auckland 276 off 88.5 overs, Wellington 56/1 off 18 overs; Northern Districts 390/9 dec, Central . Districts 26/0 off eight overs. Games are being played over two days.
