Rail depot for sale in new year

. By

PAM MORTON

Railcorp’s Victoria Street property will not be actively marketed until next year, in spite of interest in the site. The corporation’s property manager in Christchurch, Mr Grant Ancell, said talks. were being held with ! one or two companies. Mr Ancell said it had been decided not to put the property on the market until the remaining rail service staff move out early next year. The corporation’s bus passenger service was transferred from the Victoria Stret depot to the railway station on April 10. The garage repair service remains at the depot, and will be shifted to the Addington workshops. Mr Ancell said the commercial property market was still depressed. The property has a 1989 Government valuation of nearly $2 million. Mr Ancell said negotiations with interested parties would continue.
