Wetbike policy sought
Wetbikes are becoming an increasing problem in Banks Peninsula’s recreational areas, the district’s two community boards were told this week, and a regional policy is being sought. At Friday’s meeting of the Akaroa-Wairewa Community Board in Duvauchelle, the district’s manager of planning and community development, Mr John Christensen, said increasing difficulty was being experienced
with the bikes. A common policy among local authorities was needed. The problems were not being caused by commercial users but by day trippers who ignored rules and regulations. Mr Christensen said the problems were also facing the Christchurch City Council and outlined the steps it had taken to handle the problems.
