Registered Occupational Therapists with a minimum of two years post-graduate experience for the above position at Palmerston North Hospital. The Medical Rehabilitation Unit was established as the first residential rehabilitation unit attached to a general hospital in New Zealand, and provides inpatient, outpatient and day patient sendees for clients with a wide range of disabilities. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation team works closely in determining and providing the best treatment for clients to enable them wherever possible to return to independence in home and/or work life. The Section Occupational Therapist is responsible for the co-ordination of occupational therapy staffing and resources within the unit as well as providing work assessment of referred clients. Staff currently supervised are two Occupational Therapists, three Instructors and an Occupational Therapy Assistant. It is preferred that applicants have some knowledge of work assessment procedures, e.g. MODAPS, TESSA; have had experience supervising staff; and have had some community experience. The appointee will be required to work as a member of the Medical Rehabilitation Unit team, and applicants must be able to demonstrate their ability to work as an effective team member. L| |W| n DEVELOPMEN' COOPERATIOt NEW ZEALAND - PAPUA NEW GUINEA PROJECT MANAGER PAPUA NEW GUINEA/NEW ZEALAND FORESTRY PROJECT Applications are invited for the above position which will be funded under New Zealand’s Programme of Official Development Assistance. The position is for two years located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The successful applicant will be required to take up the appointment in February 1990. The appointee will be Project Manager for the Papua New Guinea/New Zealand Forestry Project. This project which commenced in 1986 involves the establishment of four demonstration forest plantations in different locations throughout PNG together with a forest seed centre, a fire control facility and forestry training. The overall aim of the project is to provide information on the feasibility of forestry plantations on customary land in PNG. The Project Manager will be required to provide effective managerial control over the project, supervise the phasing out of New Zealand's assistance to the project, determine the need for technical assistance to be provided by New Zealand, prepare a detailed operation plan and budget for the next three years, arrange a programme of landowner education about the project, and develop a comprehensive training programme including the training of a PNG counterpart to take over the management of the project. Applicants must have: • A degree in Forestry from a recognised university. • Several years experience in managing forestry projects, preferably in developing countries. Terms and conditions of appointment are set by the Ministry of External Relations and Trade and salary is based on existing salary paid. Airfares, transfer costs and allowances will be paid.
