“Kiri’s Homecoming” concerts are being held in Auckland and Wellington in early January as the Bank of New Zealand’s gift to the 1990 Commemoration.
Since becoming available on December 1, more than 50,000 complimentary tickets have been issued to see Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra perform in Auckland’s One Tree Hill Domain on January
14. Wellington branches have also reported long queues of people seeking tickets, for the concert at Trentham Memorial Park. Both venues can accommodate up to 100,000 people. The bank also reports receiving generous donations on behalf of the Child Cancer Foundation, which has been named as the beneficiary of the concerts.
