NZPA-Reuter London Equities have shown a fast pace of growth recently — more than 2 per cent on the FTSE index over the week and a gain of a little more than 6 per cent in the fortnight trading period. The FTSE index closed 16.8 points up at 2363.5, on a turnover of 480 million shares. Gilts posted gains of at least 3/4 point at the long end, helped by a technical squeeze near the close.
