Motorist nabbed The Ministry of Transport says a motorist was breath-tested after traffic officers were permitted to enter a private property at Orewa, north of Auckland, last evening. A spokesman for the Ministry said the driver had gone into a house after being chased along State highway one from Silverdale. The owners of the house gave permission for the officers to enter and speak to the driver, who was taken to the Ministry of Transport Orewa base. He will be charged with failing to stop. The Ministry said it was awaiting the analysis of a blood test. — PA. Work for 10,342 Employment Service staff have found work for 10,342 job seekers in the Christchurch area for the year to November — double the number of jobs for the same period last year. The seven centres based in the Christchurch metropolitan area made a significant contribution, placing 5290 job seekers into employment, according to the area general manager of the Employment Service, Mr Les Gillum. “Our continuing commitment and challenge is to improve our service delivery in all areas of metropolitan Christchurch,” he said. A new specialist vacancy centre was expected to increase significantly the number of job vacancies in Christchurch. Man injured A man, aged 54, was seriously hurt when he was hit by a car near the intersection of Main South Road and Halswell Junction Road yesterday morning. Mr David James Fergusson, of Milton, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with serious abdominal, leg and pelvic injuries after the accident just after 11 a.m. His condition was unavailable last evening.
