Quest set to go
The British-based environmental group, Earthquest, will soon begin its $210,000 expedition in the south of the South Island. The four month field trip in the Fiordland and southern West Coast areas will involve about 40 British scientists and volunteers. Results from the studies of flora and fauna in the area, including diving work, glacial studies and work on the bottlenosed dolphin, will be published in British scientific journals next year. The New Zealand work is one expedition by the group which also plans field trips to South Pacific islands, south-west Greenland, and Australia’s Kakadu National Park and the Great Barrier Reef.
