Planning laws to change
Significant changes to planning laws will begin with the introduction of the Resource Management Planning Bill to Parliament next week. “The bill represents a major step forward in the way we undertake planning decisions,” said the Minister for the Environment, Mr Palmer. “It also represents an advance in the way people can have a say in the way plans are made for the future of their communities. “We have completely overhauled the rules, and have straightened out a maze of overlapping laws controlling the way we plan for our communities and the environment.” Mr Palmer said the introduction of the bikll would be followed by a select committee process, but it was possible the new legislation could be law by the end of next year.
