Life-saving carnival
The first surf life-saving carnival of the season will be held at Taylors Mistake tomorrow with a full range of events. The carnival will give an early indication of the top rescue and resuscitation teams this season in the open, women’s and junior grades. Taylors Mistake, South Brighton and Waimairi have traditionally been the strong clubs in this discipline and seem likely to be to the forefront again. Surf races are scheduled and they will indicate whom the strongest swimmers in the province will be this season. Board events, canoe and boat races, and beach sprints are also on the programme and there will be a three-person taplin relay and an ironman event.
