The position is part of a team studying biochemical changes in important horticultural export crops. The successful applicant will have either an appropriate tertiary qualification in science and/ or be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of biological science and an aptitude for sound laboratory practice. The Mission provides residential accommodation for more than 200 elderly people at Fairhaven in Papanui and Wesley in Park Terrace. Community care for the elderly Is also provided by two full-time social workers seconded to the Mission from the Area Health Board. Two half-time appointments are required, attached to Fairhaven and Wesley respectively. There Is openness, however, to considering one full-time appointment to cover both centres. The successful applicant will be a person who will communicate with and relate easily to other Social Work staff within the Mission and in related organisations, general practitioners and other health care professionals.
