Timaru PA Timaru Lady Evergreen looks primed to go a big race in the S.G.S. Sprint at Timaru tomorrow after working well at Phar Lap Raceway yesterday.

Lady Evergreen went an excellent race last start at Riccarton and although drawn wide tomorrow should still be hard to beat. Her stablemates, Current Value and Chillingham, worked a solid 1200 m in 1:15, the opening 600 m in 35.2, steadying toward the finish in 40.

Royal Tribute and Colonial Bay stretched out over 800 m in 49.8, the last 600 in 36.3. Awapuni Palmerston North correspondent Mr Brooker has trained on well since his recent success in the Canterbury Gold Cup at Riccarton and the horse took the eye when galloped at Awapuni yesterday morning.

Mr Brooker is on target for the rich Counties Cup at Pukekohe this Saturday, although trainer Peter Hurdle is worried regarding the ballot. Mr Brooker has only 51 and may just sneak in the field. Larry Cassidy will ride. On the plough, which was in good order, Mr Brooker and El Kara ran a solid 1200 m in 1:17.4, the 600 in 39.4, and they finished together.
