Dubcek questioned
NZPA-Reuter Prague The ousted Czechoslovak Communist Party leader, Alexander Dubcek, was among those detained during Friday’s pro-demo-cracy demonstration by an estimated 50,000 people, a colleague said. Vaclav Slavik said Mr Dubcek, cast into political oblivion after the 1968 Soviet-led invasion crushed his “Prague Spring" re-
form movement, was released after three hours of questioning. Mr Dubcek attended the officially authorised part of Friday’s demonstration at Charles University with Mr Slavik, who served as party central committee secretary in 1968. Uniformed and plainclothes police surrounded Mr Dubcek when demonstrators began asking him for autographs, Mr Slavik told Reuters.
