Entry refused
Ambulance and traffic officers were ordered off a Halswell property by its occupants after they tried to help a man involved in a car accident on Saturday evening. The man crashed his car in Halswell Junction Road at 11.5 p.m. and fled to a nearby house. An ambulance was called but when officers went to the, house to examine the man they ’ were told to leave. Traffic officers arrived soon after and were also refused entry.
Jump to safety
A Christchurch man juhiped to safety from the truck he was driving before it careered over a bank near the Hilltop Tavern at the week-end. He suffered minor injuries in the accident, about 6.45 a.m. on Saturday. The sixtonne truck, carrying a load of gravel, left the road about 3km on the Akaroa side of the summit. It rolled about 100 m down the bank. Heart attack Efforts by passersby failed to save a man who, died after suffering a heart attack in St Albans yesterday. The man; aged 75, collapsed while walking along Springfield Road soon after 10 a.m. Members of the public went to his aid, and an ambulance arrived, but he could not be resuscitated. His name was not available last evening.
