Honours given
Recipients of honours from this year’s Queen’s Birthday list met at Government House yesterday to accept their awards. The formal atmosphere gave way to laughter when the GovernorGeneral, Sir Paul Reeves, accidently knocked people’s hats off while greeting them. An Auckland professor and Ngati Whatua elder, Hugh Kawharu, and Appeal Court judge, Edward Somers, received knighthoods.— PA.
