Big retailer from bid
The sAustL74 billion ($NZ2.328) bid by Adelaide Steamship Co., for Industrial Equity could produce a giant retailer in the same mode as Coles Myer analysts said. Analysts said Adsteam subsidiary, David Jones, Ltd, would provide the focus of the bid, as it already holds a cbmplement of stores with an easy fit for lEl’s Woolworths division. David Jones’ retailing sector ranges from its three top-class Georges department stores in Melbourne to 13 Miser stores in Queensland and NSW.
