Police find a body

A body, believed to be that of a missing Christchurch man, Walter Donovan Thompson, was found on the Port Hills on Thursday. The police searching the area found the body in Kennedys Bush, below the Sign of the Bellbird, where Mr Thompson’s abandoned car was found on Thursday morning.

Mr Thompson- had been missing from his Hoon Hay home since Sunday.

Senior-Sergeant Mike Moore, of the Christchurch South police station, said a firearm known to be with Mr Thompson was found near the body. He appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Senior-Sergeant Moore said no-one else was sought in connection with the death.
